Tehran claims nearly '5,000 women and over 2,000 minors' among victims of US-Israeli attacks

"Iran’s head of Emergency Medical Services, Jafar Miadfar, said on Sunday that thousands of civilians, including children and women, were killed or injured during US–Israeli military operations across the country. "Our latest figures show 2,115 victims under 18, including 124 under five and 70 under two. Nearly 5,000 of the victims are women, exactly 4,993, none of whom had any role in military affairs," Miadfar said. He added that the highest casualty figures were recorded in several provinces, including Tehran, Khuzestan Province, Lorestan Province, Isfahan, Kermanshah Province and Ilam Province. "The most tragic incident occurred at the School in Minab, where the number of victims under 18 has reached 221. Overall, the number of martyrs at Minab school has risen by 168, with 18 under the age of five. Additionally, the number of female martyrs in Minab has reached 258." He also described the impact on Iran’s emergency response system. "118 people were injured, and the number of martyrs has reached 26. Among the injured, 78 were my colleagues, people who were on the street, in the field," he said, adding that "Fifty-seven of our bases have been damaged, along with 47 of our ambulances." The remarks come after Iranian and US delegations failed to reach an agreement following talks in Islamabad. Iran and the United States had earlier agreed to a two-week conditional ceasefire tied to reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said the country’s armed forces would cease 'defensive operations' if attacks against Iran are halted."
