PNP backs call for tougher Meta action vs fake news, disinformation

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday backed calls for stronger measures against fake news and online disinformation, saying it will continue cyberspace monitoring alongside efforts to tighten social media regulations. This follows the earlier initiative of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), which sent a formal letter to Meta Platforms Inc., Facebook’s parent company.
