"Thousands of protesters gathered in Berlin on Saturday in support of Palestine and Iran, and to denounce Israel’s strikes on Lebanon. Footage shows demonstrators waving Palestinian, Lebanese and Iranian flags, while police moved in to disperse parts of the crowd and detain several participants. The protest follows a wave of Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon, reported to have killed at least 300 people and injured more than 1,000, hours after a two-week ceasefire was announced between the United States and Iran. Regional tensions escalated after Washington and Israel launched joint military operations against Iran on February 28. Tehran responded with strikes targeting Israeli and US positions across the region, with explosions reported in several Gulf countries. US Vice President JD Vance travelled to Islamabad over the weekend for high-level talks with Iranian officials, the most direct engagement between the two sides in decades. After 21 hours of negotiations, the talks ended on Sunday, April 12, without a deal. Vance said the outcome was "bad news for Iran, much more than it's bad news for the United States". Earlier, US President Donald Trump said the US had 'won' the war regardless of the diplomatic outcome, adding, "Whether we make a deal or not makes no difference to me." Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said, "views remained divided on two or three key issues, and the talks ultimately failed to form a deal," adding that "it was unrealistic from the outset to expect an agreement to be reached in a single session.""
