"Presidential candidate Carlos Alvarez, representing the Pais Para Todos party, arrived on Sunday at Alfonso Ugarte School in Lima to cast his vote in Peru's general elections. Footage recorded shows Alvarez arriving at the polling station, entering the voting booth and casting his ballot, greeted by supporters. Alvarez, known for his career as a comedian and television presenter, is making his first bid for the presidency after a recent entry into politics. He was previously affiliated with the Vamos Per” party, which he left in 2021, before formally joining Pais Para Todos in 2025 ahead of his candidacy. Unlike several of his rivals, Alvarez has not held elected office or executive positions. His campaign focuses on tackling corruption, promoting transparency in government, encouraging the participation of new political actors, reducing bureaucratic hurdles for small businesses, and strengthening the operational capacity of security forces. He is competing in a crowded field of 35 presidential candidates that includes figures such as Keiko Fujimori, leader of Fuerza Popular; former Lima mayor Rafael Lopez Aliaga; and Cesar Acuna of Alianza para el Progreso, in a fragmented race with no clear frontrunner."
