"Tens of thousands of runners took part in the Schneider Electric Paris Marathon on Sunday, with crowds lining the streets of Paris for one of the world’s largest road races. Footage shows participants setting off from the Champs-Elysees early in the morning, covering the 42.195-kilometre course before finishing on Avenue Foch, where volunteers and spectators handed out medals and cheered runners across the line. Italy’s Yemaneberhan Crippa won the race in 2 hours, 5 minutes and 18 seconds, breaking away in the closing stages, according to organisers of the World Athletics event. "This victory is dedicated first and foremost to myself because I believed in it so much, I suffered so much, and then to the coach, to my family, to all the people around me," he said. France’s Emmanuel Roudolff Levisse finished sixth, narrowly missing out on the leading group. "There were a few accelerations from Yemaneberhan Crippa, and I had to accelerate to catch up. I saw the time passing, the kilometres going by, and I thought to myself, well, I'm still here, still motivated and still in the group, so that kept me going," Levisse said. Organisers said more than 60,000 runners took part this year."
