"Presidential candidate and Fuerza Popular party leader Keiko Fujimori, daughter of former president Alberto Fujimori, arrived on Sunday morning at Libertador San Martin Private School in Lima to cast her vote in the general elections. In the footage, upon entering the polling station, Fujimori greeted supporters and members of the media. Fujimori, a former congresswoman who assumed the role of first lady at the age of 19 following the departure of her mother, Susana Higuchi, during her father’s presidency, is running for president for the fourth time, after unsuccessful bids in 2011, 2016 and 2021, all of which ended in runoff defeats. Her campaign focuses on security, with tougher strategies against crime, as well as economic stability, simplification of procedures to support small and medium-sized businesses, and the formalization of entrepreneurs and informal traders. Among her main rivals are former Lima mayor Rafael Lopez Aliaga and Cesar Acuna of Alianza para el Progreso, in a politically polarized race. In total, 35 candidates are competing for the presidency. If no candidate secures more than 50% of the vote in the first round, a runoff will be held on June 7. "
