The Toronto Tempo are set to embark on its inaugural WNBA season next month, and players will do so in style. Canada's first WNBA franchise will call Toronto's Coca-Cola Coliseum home for the upcoming season. With the addition of the Tempo as tenants, alongside the AHL's Toronto Marlies and PWHL's Toronto Sceptres, some new renovations have been made to the arena to welcome the basketball team. That included a brand-new dressing room for Tempo players, which the team showed off late last week. "From day one, it was essential for us to create a facility that truly supports our players, not just as athletes, but as people," said Monica Wright Rogers, the GM of the Tempo, in a release. "These locker rooms were designed to give them everything they need to prepare, recover, and perform at their highest level, so they can be the best versions of themselves every single day." The space has been described as being "designed for women" and includes specific lighting, full-length mirrors, as well as "a clutter-free layout and porcelain marble feature elements." This design has the Tempo logo anchored to the ceiling of the dressing room with a projection onto the carpet. The stalls have a variety of features, including integrated safes, sensor lighting, electrical outlets, and mirrors. On top of the dressing room, Tempo players will also be able to enjoy a new player's lounge as well. This space includes plenty of natural light and "welcomes Tempo athletes into an open, social environment defined by refined finishes, intentional branding moments, and a sense of calm confidence." The team confirmed that a GoodLife Fitness Weight Room and a flexible support room are also available to help satisfy player needs. That support room can transition between anything from a nursing room, nail salon, or an additional space for recovery or wellness. The Tempo will take to the hardwood for their regular-season WNBA game in Toronto on May 8 against the Washington Mystics.
