? Live: Counting begins, preliminary results emerge in Peru’s general election

"Votes are counted and preliminary results are announced in Lima on Sunday, April 12 (GMT April 13), in Peru’s general election. The race features a crowded field of 35 presidential candidates, including Keiko Fujimori of Fuerza Popular, former Lima mayor Rafael Lopez Aliaga, and Cesar Acuna of Alianza para el Progreso. If no candidate secures more than 50 per cent, the election will proceed to a runoff between the top two contenders in June. Presidential terms last five years, although ongoing political instability has seen eight presidents since 2016. In total, 208 officials are being elected: the president, two vice presidents, 60 senators, 130 deputies, and 15 Andean parliamentarians."
