BEIJING: The China-Pakistan Joint Neurosurgery Training Centre was inaugurated on April 10 during the “Belt and Road” China-Pakistan International Neurosurgery Symposium, held alongside the 11th East Lake International Cerebrovascular Surgery Forum in Wuhan, China. The East Lake International Cerebrovascular Surgery Forum, hosted by Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, has been held annually since its inception and has developed into a leading academic platform for neurosurgical exchange in central China. The 2026 edition has brought together leading domestic and international experts to discuss the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, CEN reported on Sunday. The newly inaugurated training center is a joint initiative of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PINS), and the China-Pakistan Medical Association (CPMA). It aims to strengthen neurosurgical capacity, advance medical education, and promote medical tourism between the two countries. A memorandum of understanding was signed between Zhongnan Hospital and PINS on the occasion, establishing a framework for cooperation in clinical training, academic exchange, joint research, and patient care. The inauguration ceremony, attended by medical experts and industry representatives from both countries, underscored growing cooperation in the health sector under the Belt and Road Initiative. The centre is expected to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building, further deepening bilateral collaboration in medicine.
