PESHAWAR: Under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government initiative for good governance and transparency, the KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has digitalised the licensing system. In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the KP Food Authority and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB). The initiative aims to transform the food licensing system across the province into a fully online and digitised platform, making the process of registration and licensing easier, faster, and more transparent for food business operators. The MoU signing ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development and Chairman Food Authority Board, Islam Zeb. Under the agreement, the Food Authority’s licensing system will be further improved and made online to ensure the efficient and transparent provision of registration and license renewal services to business stakeholders. Under the new system, food business operators will be able to complete their registration and license renewal through the “DASTAK” application. Applicants will submit their personal and business details online, after which district teams of the Food Authority will conduct on-site verification. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
