Atong Ang like an eel, difficult to capture – Remulla

MANILA, Philippines—Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Monday admitted that fugitive businessman Atong Ang is difficult to capture, comparing him to  a slippery eel. “Parang palos ‘yan eh. Hindi mo basta-basta maaabutan ‘yan (He's like an eel. You can’t easily catch him),” Remulla said. Remulla said Ang was spotted in Central Luzon last week but he was gone when law enforcers arrived. “There was an actual report of an eyeball contact. That means the person saw him,” he said. “I was personally part of the raiding team. I went there myself, but we were not able to catch him.” Remulla said that authorities continue their manhunt for Ang, who is wanted for kidnapping in connection with several cases of sabungeros (cockfighting enthusiasts) who disappeared several years ago. The government has offered a reward of P20 million for information that would lead to Ang’s arrest.
