DA may need P40B additional fund if oil crisis persists

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Agriculture (DA) may need an additional P40 billion in funding if the oil crisis in the country continues, DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said on Monday. In an interview with Senate reporters, Tiu Laurel bared that when fuel prices increased, it only had the P150 million fund fuel subsidy and the P10 billion Presidential Assistance to Farmers and Fishermen to work around. “That’s all our money… but we can provide the additional money we’re asking for if we have the funds.,” Tiu Laurel said in Filipino.
