"Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia led an Easter service at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow on Saturday night, as Orthodox Christians across Russia marked the holiday. Footage shows hundreds of believers attending the service at the cathedral. Orthodox Christians observe Easter on the first Sunday following the full moon after the spring equinox, in accordance with the Julian calendar. Easter Sunday, which marks the Resurrection of Christ, is one of the oldest and most revered celebrations within the Church, following seven weeks of Lent focused on reflection and abstinence. Services and religious processions will take place in churches across Russia on Orthodox Easter Day, April 12."
