"Peruvian police detained Jose 'N', Electoral Management Manager of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), following the general election held on Sunday. In images released this Monday by the Police, the official is seen speaking with officers at ONPE headquarters. According to authorities, Jose 'N' was detained in flagrante for the offence of omission of official duties during the general election process held on April 12. The official was responsible for overseeing the distribution of electoral materials, which was delayed, leaving around 63,000 Peruvian voters unable to vote on time. In response, the National Jury of Elections confirmed the extension of voting hours to this Monday. The National Police stated that the detention of Jose 'N' was carried out in response to media reports of delays in the delivery of electoral materials in various areas of Lima. According to the ONPE count, and based on 56% of tally sheets processed, candidate Keiko Fujimori has secured 16.93% of the vote, followed by Rafael Lopez Aliaga with 14.24% of valid votes. If no candidate obtains more than 50% of the vote in the first round, a second round will be held on June 7."
