"An alleged Israeli strike on Monday on a Red Cross centre in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre left one person dead. Footage shows ambulances damaged in front of the centre, as emergency crews can be seen gathering outside. "Israeli barbarism is clear,” claimed Lebanese MP Ali Kharis, adding that Tel Aviv “has no regard for international laws, including the Geneva Convention.” He hit out at what he described as the 'deliberate targeting of medical teams', accusing Israel of “the killing of healthcare workers, from the Lebanese Red Cross to the Al-Risala Islamic Scout Association, the Emergency Health Corps, the Health Authority, and the Lebanese Civil Defence.” Earlier on Monday, Lebanese media had reported that a victim of the strike had died while being transported to hospital, noting that several Red Cross vehicles were damaged in the attack. The International Committee of the Red Cross on Monday voiced concern over the killing of humanitarian and medical workers, citing the damage caused to the centre in Tyre. Israel has not commented on the attack, although it had issued evacuation warnings to residents of villages in the south since the war began, directing them to move north of the Zahrani River. The attack follows the Lebanese government's recent call for “pressure to ensure Lebanon is included in any ceasefire agreement,” insisting that “it will not accept any party other than itself negotiating on its behalf.” Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the demands and directed his government to engage in direct talks with the Lebanese government 'as soon as possible'.
