"Peruvian polling station officials, together with staff from the National Jury of Elections (JNE) and the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), are carrying out the second day of vote counting this Monday after the electoral process was extended due to logistical failures. Footage shows JNE and ONPE personnel conducting the vote tally at San Luis Gonzaga School in the Peruvian capital. Thus far, conservative candidate Keiko Fujimori and ultraconservative Rafael Lopez Aliaga are leading the polls with more than 60% of ballots already counted. Keiko Fujimori is leading with 16.9%, according to the preliminary ONPE count, although this will be insufficient to secure a first-round victory, as the law requires 50% plus one valid vote. Meanwhile, Rafael Lopez Aliaga, candidate of the Popular Renewal party and former mayor of Lima, was in second place with 13.9% of the vote, followed by Jorge Nieto with 12.5% and businessman Ricardo Belmont with 9.9%. Likewise, with 8.6% of the vote liberal candidate Roberto Sanchez, is in the ascendancy. His support is largely in rural areas, where the majority of outstanding votes will originate."
