"Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong-un oversaw a test of strategic cruise and anti-warship missiles conducted as part of ongoing efficiency trials of the newly inducted destroyer Choe Hyon, reported state media KCNA on Tuesday. Stills released by KCNA show Kim and military leaders observing the destroyer ship Choe Hyon conducting a cruise missile demonstration from an undisclosed location. The leader is also seen inspecting the workstation inside the destroyer ship before departing. According to reports, Kim also said that strengthening the country's 'nuclear war deterrent remained a top priority,' while calling on improving the strategic-tactical strike capabilities and rapid-response readiness. He received a briefing on plans for two additional Choe Hyon-class destroyers, currently under construction. The tested cruise missiles flew for 7,869 to 7,920 seconds, while anti-warship missiles operated for 1,960 to 1,973 seconds over the western coast, achieving their targets. DPRK test-fired weapons from the Choe Hyon-class warship in April last year, with Kim announcing plans to build two additional destroyers and to commission the production of the same or more advanced ships annually."
