Madriaga says P125M confidential funds disposed of in less than 24 hours

MANILA, Philippines — Ramil Madriaga, alleged former bagman of Vice President Sara Duterte, said the P125 million in confidential funds of the Office of this Vice President in 2022 was "disposed of" in less than 24 hours. Reading from his supplemental affidavit in Tuesday's hearing of the justice committee of the House of Representatives, Madriaga said, "I personally disposed of the money in less than twenty-four hours". In his affidavit, Madriaga narrated alleged deliveries supposedly under the vice president's instructions. He said four bags were loaded onto cars at the Department of Education's (DepEd) central office. He said Dennis Nolasco told him that each bag contained about P30 million to P35 million. In his affidavit, Madriaga narrated that he and others transported, by car, two bags containing cash to the compound of the Office of the Ombudsman in December 2022. He said the bags were loaded onto a red car while at the DepEd central office in Pasig and the car went to his residence in Cainta, Rizal before the money was taken to the Ombudsman compound. Madriaga said he took P1 million from the red car as his share. The Manila Times has reached out to former ombudsman Samuel Martires—who was then the ombudsman in 2022—for comment. According to the affidavit, the two other bags were delivered to other places.
