MANILA, Philippines – The administration of the University of the Philippines (UP) on Tuesday maintained that its lease agreements with the new Diliman shopping center on the Diliman campus were in accordance with retail practices and are “legally sound.” The UP administration was responding to recent developments in the criminal and administrative complaints filed by displaced vendors against former and incumbent ranking officials of the state university. In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the UP administration also maintained that it was never “for sale” and that small vendors “have always been part of the lifeblood of the Diliman campus.” […]...
