NBI presents acknowledgment receipt findings during impeachment hearing

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) shared findings on 36 acknowledgment receipts in connection with confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education (DepEd). The findings were shared on Tuesday in the House Committee on Justice's hearing on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte who is a former DepEd secretary. The committee is conducting the hearing to determine whether there is probable cause to impeach her. Forensic examiner Carolyn J. Moldez-Pitoy, sharing the NBI's findings in a report, said that the signature above the name Sally Rendon on the acknowledgement receipt marked Q-26 and the signature above the name Sheila Dado on the one marked Q-27 "were written by one and the same person." The next finding that she shared were "similarities in handwriting characteristics" as to signatures for Jason Bitangcol, Selsa Arojable, Samson Sales, Samson Samuel, and Sabel Salazar. Pitoy also shared the finding that the date below the name Analiza Ziño on the acknowledgement receipt marked Q-1 and the date below the name Ken Naso on the one marked Q-2 "were written by one and the same person." She also shared that the date below the name Hedda Claribelita Tamayo on the one marked Q-3 and the date below the name Jayson Reignold Ngo on the one marked Q-4 "were written by one and the same person." She also shared that the date below the name Angel Marie Abrigo on the one marked Q-5 and the date below the name Anthony Santos on the one marked Q-6 "were also written by one and the same person." She also shared that the date below the name Joseph Carcedo on the one marked Q-7 and the date below the name Raymond Mamon on the one marked Q-8 "were also written by one and the same person." "Absent any statement of ultimate facts in any of these Impeachment Complaints, there is nothing for respondent to answer. Respondent thus only admits averments therein insofar as they allege her election, assumption to the Office of the Vice President, appointment as Secretary of Education, and her prior offices as Mayor and Vice Mayor of Davao City", Duterte's answer to the complaints read. "The rest of the allegations, including the annexes and so-called evidence attached to the Impeachment Complaints, are specifically denied for being false, misleading, impertinent, and mere conclusions of fact and law", it read.
