Hotter days ahead over PH

MANILA, Philippines  — The state-run weather agency has reminded the public to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities, especially from late morning to mid-afternoon, due to the sweltering heat. Weather specialist Chenel Dominguez of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) cited data and analysis indicating hotter and more humid days ahead as the country remains in the dry season. She explained that the ridge, or extension, of a high-pressure area (HPA)—an elongated region of sinking, cool, and dry air—has been affecting Northern Luzon, bringing generally fair, sunny, and hot weather with light winds. However, isolated downpours or thunderstorms remain possible over Metro Manila, the Bicol Region, and other parts of the country due to localized thunderstorms, the PAGASA forecaster said. According to the national weather bureau, a localized thunderstorm is a “small-scale, short-lived weather system that brings isolated heavy rains, lightning, thunder, and gusty winds, usually occurring over a specific, small area.”
