MANILA, Philippines — As the transport group Manibela began its three-day nationwide transport strike on Wednesday, its Chairperson Mar Valbuena condemned what he described as inaction of the government, saying its fuel subsidies and cash assistance to affected sectors are just “band-aid solutions.” The transport group’s calls for this three-day strike remain the same from the demonstration it held last March 26: rollback of prices for oil products, abolition of the Oil Deregulation Law, and removal of value added tax and excise tax on fuel products.
