KHNP chief visits Czech Republic to advance Dukovany nuclear project

Kim Hoe-chun, president of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), made his first overseas trip since taking office in March, visiting the Czech Republic to inspect progress on the Dukovany nuclear power project and reinforce cooperation with local stakeholders, the company said Wednesday. KHNP said Kim met Czech government officials, project partners and nuclear regulators in a series of discussions aimed at reaffirming the company’s commitment to successful project execution and reviewing cooperation on key issues, including licensing and infrastructure development. The Dukovany project involves the construction of two 1,000-megawatt APR1000 nuclear reactors in the Dukovany region. Following a contract signing in June 2025, the project has entered its early implementation phase. On Monday (local time), Kim met executives of CEZ and EDU II, the project’s client entity, where he emphasized KHNP’s determination to ensure the project’s successful completion.
