RISALPUR: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf said Pakistan’s political and military leadership played a key role in enabling a ceasefire in the Middle East. The Naval Chief addressed the passing-out parade of cadets at the prestigious Pakistan Air Force Academy Risalpur. He congratulated graduating cadets and highlighted the academy’s legacy of producing officers with a strong tradition of service to the country.Admiral Naveed Ashraf said that the armed forces remain committed to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and national interests. He praised the operational strength of the Pakistan Air Force, calling it a modern and technologically advanced force. According to him, the Pakistan Air Force demonstrated full capability in May last year and has also shown strength in cyber and electronic warfare domains. The naval chief also emphasized the role of the Pakistan Navy in safeguarding maritime borders, adding that it has responded effectively to any aggression at sea. He further noted that Pakistan’s armed forces continue to play an active role in counter-terrorism operations with public support. Admiral Ashraf highlighted that tensions linked to the Iran–US situation and developments around the Strait of Hormuz had impacted global oil supply chains. The Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route, has remained under international focus amid regional instability. He said Pakistan’s leadership efforts contributed to easing tensions and helped make a ceasefire in the Middle East possible. Reaffirming Pakistan’s defence posture, the Naval Chief stated that the country remains fully prepared to respond to any aggression. He added that during past tensions, the Pakistan Navy deterred hostile actions at sea, while the Air Force also showcased advanced operational capabilities. The ceremony concluded with a flypast and aerial salute by Pakistan Air Force aircraft, witnessed by senior officials including Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu.
