OCD to Negros LGUs: Keep Kanlaon danger zone clear of human activity

BACOLOD CITY–The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has reminded local government units in Negros to ensure that there is no human activity within the 4-kilometer permanent danger zone (PDZ) of Kanlaon Volcano.  OCD Negros Island Regional Director Donato Sermeno III on Tuesday warned of increased ash emissions and earthquakes at Kanlaon Volcano.   The volcano also had 102 volcanic earthquakes, including two volcanic tremors, from 12 a.m. Monday to 12 a.m. Tuesday, he pointed out.  Sermeno said he will remind personnel of the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices to keep residents out of the danger zone.   READ: Kanlaon Volcano […]...
