Churr-oink! - Viral pig-shaped ‘chanchichurro’ fried pastries bring home the bacon for creator in Argentina’s Tucuman

"A churro cart has gone viral in the province of Tucuman, Argentina, after introducing a unique pig-shaped churro known as ‘chanchichurro’. Footage captured on Tuesday shows Claudio Andres from the city of San Miguel de Tucuman, who has been selling churros for around six years. He explained that he began by making shapes with churro dough and, after talking with his daughter about the possibility of creating a unique product, the idea of the ‘chanchichurro’ first emerged. It has since proved a roaring success, he added, especially among tourists. "In July, with all the tourists there are, I estimate that because of how popular the pig [chanchichurro] has become, nowadays I should be selling between 200 and 250 little pigs easily per day," he said. Customers say the product has transformed the simple act of eating churros into an exciting experience, for some becoming a part of their daily routine. "The truth is that it seems like something new to me because I haven't seen it anywhere else; the only place I've seen it is here. So the first time I saw it, it kind of catches your attention, (...) and I also find it funny at the same time," said customer Romina. "I always eat churros here, I have an afternoon snack, sometimes I have breakfast with friends. In fact, now I'm taking some to share with friends," said another. Through the ‘chanchichurro’, Claudio has shown his ability to reinvent his craft after more than 30 years in the street food business, adapting and innovating to stay relevant."
