July Jung's 'Dora' to premiere at Cannes Directors' Fortnight

July Jung's "Dora" will have a world premiere at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight next month. The film, the screenwriter-director's third feature, has been officially invited to the 58th edition of the event, which runs alongside the Cannes Film Festival from May 13 to 23. Unveiling the lineup for the Directors' Fortnight, Artistic Director Julien Rejl described the film as a "very free and contemporary adaption of Dora's case study by Freud in 1900," according to the film's promoter Solaire Partners. The film is a coming-of-age drama following a teenage girl named Dora over the course of a summer holiday. It features K-pop-idol-turned-actress Kim Do-yeon and Japanese actress Sakura Ando, known for her role in "Shoplifters." Jung has been a fixture at Cannes, with her debut "A Girl at My Door" screened in the Un Certain Regard section in 2014, followed by "Next Sohee" closing Critics' Week in 2022.
