MANILA, Philippines — Requiring public utility vehicles under the service contracting program to have a Global Positioning System (GPS) is an additional burden for drivers, Sen. Joel Villanueva said on Wednesday. The senator made the remark after the Department of Transportation (DOTr) revoked its decision to mandate drivers to procure GPS devices. “In the midst of a severe crisis where our countrymen are in dire need of help in the transport sector, let’s not give them an additional burden,” Villanueva said in Filipino.
