"White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday she would look into reports that a number of US scientists with access to sensitive defence research have died or gone missing since 2024. "I've seen the report, Peter. I haven't spoken to our relevant agencies about it. I will certainly do that, and we'll get you an answer," Leavitt said. "If true, of course, that's definitely something I think this government and administration would deem worth looking into. So let me do that for you," she added. Reports since mid-2024 have pointed to a series of cases involving between eight and ten individuals, including aerospace engineers, researchers and a retired Air Force general, whose deaths or disappearances have raised questions among some observers. Several of those individuals were reportedly linked to sensitive US defence-related work, including aerospace engineering and nuclear research at institutions such as Los Alamos National Laboratory and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. No official link between the cases has been confirmed, and US authorities have not publicly indicated that the incidents are connected."
