More Metro Manila schools suspend face-to-face classes, shift online on 2nd day of transport strike

MANILA, Philippines — More universities and colleges in Metro Manila shifted classes online or to other remote learning arrangements on Thursday as transport groups continued their strike for the second day. The new class adjustments came as Manibela and other groups protested over high fuel prices and what it described as insufficient government relief. The affected schools are: • FEU Diliman (tertiary classes online; Basic Education classes proceed, with affected students possibly excused subject to adviser discretion) • FEU Institute of Technology (tertiary classes online synchronous mode) • Technological University of the Philippines-Manila (remote synchronous learning) • University of Santo Tomas (enriched virtual mode, April 16 to 17) • University of the East-Caloocan (online classes) Schools that shifted from April 15 to 17 and 18: • Adamson University (online synchronous classes, April 15 to 18) • Centro Escolar University-Manila (full online mode, April 15 to 17) • Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Manila (online synchronous classes, all levels, April 15 to 17) • Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila (online classes, April 15 to 17) • Philippine College of Criminology (online classes, April 15 to 17) • Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Sta. Mesa (online classes, April 15 to 17, with exceptions including the College of Law) • Technological Institute of the Philippines (synchronous online classes, April 15 to 17) • Trinity University of Asia (online classes, April 15 to 17) The strike at Philcoa, Quezon City and other parts of Metro Manila prompted more schools to adopt online and remote learning arrangements for students and personnel affected by the disruption.
