No timeline set for Strait of Hormuz - Leavitt on US blockade

"White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday that no timeline has been set for how long the United States will maintain its maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. "I will never set timelines on behalf of the President of the United States, but with respect to the blockade, as you know, it has been fully implemented, and it's being enforced against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports," Leavitt said. "I want to make that point clear. I've seen some misreporting on that as well. This includes all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. And our US forces in the region are supporting the freedom of navigation for vessels that are transiting the Strait to and from non-Iranian ports," she added. The blockade affects shipping linked to Iranian ports while allowing transit through the Strait of Hormuz for vessels travelling to other destinations. The measures form part of a US economic pressure campaign targeting Iran’s oil exports and financial networks, which has contributed to reduced global supply and higher fuel prices. US officials say the disruption is temporary and tied to longer-term strategic goals."
