'Not negotiation, but dictation' - Iranian FM spox Baqaei rejects US proposals as 'unreasonable', says no date set for next round

"Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said on Wednesday that Iran was still exchanging messages with the United States through a Pakistani intermediary, but that no date had been set for the next round of talks.   Speaking at the weekly press conference, Baqaei described the US position as 'unreasonable and unrealistic,' stressing that Iran had already presented its own response. "This is not a new issue. They are already familiar with our positions from previous negotiations, which were primarily focused on the nuclear file," he said.   Baqaei reiterated that Iran would not enter negotiations under imposed conditions. "Any negotiation based on one side dictating terms to the other is unacceptable," he said, adding that Tehran would not agree to such an approach.   On reports of a ceasefire extension, Baqaei said the speculation was 'not confirmed' and that talks were still ongoing through Pakistani mediation.   He also described the US naval blockade as 'provocative' and "against the principles and foundations of international law," warning it could become "a prelude to violating the ceasefire." It comes during a delicate two-week ceasefire, which began on April 8 and is set to expire on April 22. Pakistan played a mediator role in the first round of negotiations, which were held in Islamabad and remains one of the few channels still trusted enough by both sides to shuttle messages.  Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Islamabad had spoken with the Americans, heard Tehran's position and would now discuss both sides' views in detail during the visit."
