Finland is preparing a new phase in its public warning system with the introduction of mobile-based alerts designed to reach people more quickly during emergencies. The Interior Ministry said the upgrade will rely on Cell Broadcast technology, a system that allows authorities to send messages directly to all mobile phones within a specific area without using phone numbers or subscriber lists. The new system will form part of an existing network that already includes radio, television, websites and the 112 Suomi mobile application.
