Smoke and wreckage - Firefighters respond as car erupts in flames after rocket strike on Kiryat Shmona

"A rocket barrage believed to be launched from Lebanon struck Kiryat Shmona, sparking a massive vehicle fire in a residential neighborhood on Thursday. Footage shows firefighters putting out the flames, as thick smoke billowed over the burnt wreckage. According to Magen David Adom (MDA), no casualties were reported in connection with the vehicle fire. Local media said the blaze was caused by a direct or near-miss hit from a rocket. The incident comes as Hezbollah said it had carried out multiple missile strikes on the city over the past 24 hours. Later on Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a '10 day ceasefire.' He also announced that he is inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to the White House for the 'first meaningful talks' between the two sides 'since 1983.' Tensions in the Middle East escalated after Israel and the United States launched military operations against Iran on February 28. Tehran retaliated with strikes targeting Israeli territory and US interests across the region. The conflict spilt over into Lebanon, when Hezbollah announced its intervention 'in revenge' for the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. A ceasefire between Iran and the US-Israel alliance came into effect last week. Talks between the sides ended in Islamabad on Sunday without agreement."
