"The first deportation flight of migrants with irregular status during the administration of President Jose Antonio Kast departed on Thursday from Santiago with 40 foreigners on board. Of the total, 25 correspond to administrative expulsions and 15 to judicial ones. By nationality, 19 are Colombian, 12 Bolivian and 9 Ecuadorian, who will be transferred to their countries of origin. The migrants were transferred from the National Headquarters of Migration and International Police in Santiago to Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, from where the aircraft took off. Each one was escorted by an officer of the Investigative Police. According to the government, the expelled migrants have committed offenses such as entry through unauthorised crossings, drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, violent robbery, among others. The flight will make a stop in Iquique, where more people will be added for deportation. Local media indicate that the government plans to carry out three monthly flights and is evaluating complementing air transfers with land expulsions by bus. The executive seeks to carry out its migrant expulsion plan with a budget of about $4 billion pesos (4.5 million dollars) allocated. "
