These are the Ontario postal codes losing door-to-door Canada Post delivery

Canada Post is officially moving ahead with its work to convert some addresses that currently receive door-to-door mail delivery to community mailboxes , and thousands of residences in Ontario will be affected. The changes come after the Corporation's initial meetings with its bargaining agents, and are aimed at strengthening the postal service, allowing it "to be a better partner for businesses, enable national commerce, and help it meet its dual mandate of delivering for all Canadians without being a recurring burden on taxpayers." As a result, Canada Post will be converting roughly four million addresses that currently receive door-to-door delivery to community mailboxes. Overall, the national conversion program is anticipated to take about five years, with different regions shifting to community mailboxes every year. To start, 13 communities, including two in Ontario, are being converted from door-to-door delivery to community mailboxes in late 2026 and early 2027. In Etobicoke, postal codes M9V and M9W, which encompass approximately 18,000 addresses, will be shifting over to community mailboxes. In Ottawa, postal codes K1B, K1G, K1H, K1J, and K1K, which affect 30,000 addresses, will also be moving over to the new system. The Corporation says nearly three out of four Canadian addresses already receive their mail and packages through some of the centralized delivery. Still, Canada Post notes that converting an address from door-to-door delivery to a community mailbox takes months, and the Corporation will involve the community as it searches for suitable locations for community mailbox sites. Most of the postal codes included in the first round are already in areas adjacent to those served by community mailboxes, the Corporation says. The vast majority of packages delivered by Canada Post reportedly fit into a community mailbox's individual compartment, and those that don't or require a signature are delivered to the door or held for pickup at a local post office. The Corporation is also working on modernizing its retail network, as a 30 per cent drop in retail revenue has been recorded since 2021.
