LEAs place capital on high alert

ISLAMABAD: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have placed the federal capital on high alert in view of the possible arrival of high-profile foreign dignitaries for the second round of US-Iran talks. According to police sources, comprehensive security arrangements have been finalized for the Red Zone, which houses the Diplomatic Enclave, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Parliament House, the Supreme Court, and other sensitive government installations. To reinforce security, additional police personnel have been called in from various districts, including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan, Lahore, Multan, Sahiwal, and Faisalabad. These contingents are expected to arrive shortly. Police have also established extra security checkpoints across the city, with increased deployment at all entry and exit points. Random vehicle checks are ongoing as part of heightened vigilance. As a part of security measure capital police have also intensified search operations and intelligence-based surveillance across Islamabad. The capital police conducted large-scale joint grand combing and search operations in various areas of the federal capital against criminal elements. Police have continued their crackdown against crimes, arresting 28 suspects during the past 24 hours under the “Weapons-Free Islamabad” and “Nasha Ab Nahi” campaigns.
