'We are not seeking unrest' - Iran's Pezeshkian holds talks with Pakistani army chief in Tehran amid ongoing mediation efforts

"Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held talks with Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir in Tehran on Thursday as Islamad continued its mediation efforts for the US-Israel alliance and Iran. Footage shows the two leaders meeting, with officials from both countries attending. "We have never pursued nuclear weapons, as the Supreme Leader has previously stated. We are not seeking unrest in the region, nor are we seeking assassinations," Pezeshkian told reporters. "We defend the integrity of our country with dignity. We have stood firm and remain committed to the legal and regulatory frameworks that we must adhere to, and we hope the other side will come to realize this," he added. The Pakistani army chief arrived in Tehran on Wednesday, where he was received by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The Pakistani Army's Public Relations Department announced that Field Marshal Asim Munir’s mission in Iran forms part of Islamabad's ongoing mediation efforts. In a televised interview on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said that the next meeting with Iran 'could happen this weekend', expressing confidence that a deal to end the war could be reached soon. On April 8, the United States and Iran reached a conditional two-week ceasefire agreement followed by talks in Islamabad mediated by Pakistan, though the discussions have not yet yielded a final agreement between the two sides."
