'We haven't finished the job!' - Netanyahu says Israel has 'plans' to eliminate Hezbollah threat despite ceasefire

"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday that Israel still has 'plans' to address remaining threats from Hezbollah, despite a fragile 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon. "The Hezbollah of today is a shadow of its former self compared to the glory days of Hassan Nasrallah. But I say honestly, we have not yet finished the job," Netanyahu said. "There are things we plan to do against the remaining rocket threat and against the drone threat, and I will not go into detail," he added. US president Donald Trump announced the ceasefire following what he described as 'excellent' calls with Netanyahu and Lebanon's Aoun on Thursday. The announcement followed rare US-mediated talks in Washington earlier this week, marking the first direct engagement between Israeli and Lebanese officials in more than three decades. "My friend President Trump, with whom we changed the face of the Middle East and brought tremendous achievements, we agreed to a temporary ceasefire in Lebanon. At his request, we will give an opportunity to advance a combined political and military solution with the Lebanese government," he said. "The road to peace is still long, but we have started it. One hand holds a weapon, our other hand is extended in peace," he added. The ceasefire, which came into effect at midnight on April 17, is intended to provide space for negotiations following rare US-mediated talks in Washington, DC, the first direct engagement between Israeli and Lebanese officials in more than three decades. Despite the pause in fighting, both sides remain on high alert, with warnings of potential violations as displaced civilians begin returning to parts of southern Lebanon. The conflict intensified in recent weeks as Israel established a 'security zone' in southern Lebanon after fierce fighting with Hezbollah. The campaign reached a peak on April 8, when Israel launched massive, coordinated airstrikes across Lebanon, including in central Beirut, leaving over 300 dead."
