LAHORE: Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo claimed on Friday that wheat harvesting has been completed on approximately 40 percent of the cultivated area in Punjab, while the registration process of farmers for wheat procurement is underway. He emphasized that under directions of the Chief Minister Punjab, wheat will be procured from small farmers on a priority basis. For this purpose, 233 procurement centres have been fully operational across the Punjab. He was speaking at a review meeting regarding wheat harvesting held at Agriculture House Lahore. The meeting was chaired by Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Iftikhar Ali Sahoo. Additional Secretary Agriculture (Task Force) Punjab Muhammad Shabbir Ahmad Khan, Director Generals Agriculture Chaudhry Abdul Hameed, Naveed Asmat Kahloon, and Dr Abdul Qayyum participated while field formations officers participated via video link. On this occasion, Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said the wheat harvesting process is underway across Punjab. He directed the field formations to provided technical advisory to the farmers regarding harvesting under prevailing circumstances. He further stated that according to initial estimates, the wheat production target of Punjab province will be achieved easily.
