TACLOBAN CITY — Farmers in a coastal town in Leyte are projected to have improved crop yields and cut production costs following the installation of a P7 million solar-powered irrigation system aimed at addressing persistent water shortages and rising fuel prices. The Solar-Powered Irrigation System (SPIS), turned over on April 13 in Barangay Ugbon in Leyte, Leyte was awarded to the Sitio Tambis Farmers Association under the small-scale irrigation program of the Department of Agriculture(DA).
