"Thousands of members of the Venezuelan diaspora gathered in Madrid on Saturday to express their support for opposition leader Maria Corina Machado. Footage shows Machado joining and addressing the rally during her visit to Spain. Supporters can be seen waving Venezuelan flags, holding pictures of Machado, and dancing. "Today is a day in which Venezuela’s cry for freedom has echoed," Machado said. As she was heading back to her vehicle, the crowd chanted 'president'. Spain is home to the largest Venezuelan population outside the Americas, with the majority living in its capital. Machado is on her multistop European tour, during which she has held meetings with leaders of France, Italy, and the Netherlands. On Saturday, she said that she had refused a meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, however. It comes as Venezuela’s opposition calls for presidential elections, arguing that interim President Delcy Rodriguez has extended her temporary role beyond the 90-day limit set out in the constitution."
