Bahrain Demands Full Compensation From Iran Over “Unlawful Aggression”

The Kingdom of Bahrain has reiterated its demand that the Islamic Republic of Iran provide full compensation for all damages and losses resulting from unlawful Iranian aggression, in its eleventh formal communication to the United Nations. Bahrain’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York submitted identical letters to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, continuing a series of official correspondences aimed at informing Council members of what it describes as blatant and illegal attacks carried out by Iran against Bahraini territory. The letter emphasises that Iran has continued to disregard UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which determined that Iranian attacks against Bahrain, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan constitute violations of international law and called for their immediate cessation. According to Bahrain, such attacks have persisted even after the resolution’s adoption, reflecting what it characterises as a serious breach of both the Council’s authority and Iran’s obligations under international law.
