'This govt cannot give us hope!' - Anti-war protesters demand Netanyahu's resignation as hundreds call for regional peace in Jerusalem

"Hundreds of anti-government protesters gathered on Saturday evening in West Jerusalem, denouncing Prime Minister Netanyahu's foreign policies and strictly opposing any Israeli military involvement in conflicts with its neighbours. Footage shows protesters chanting anti-government slogans on megaphones, beating drums, and waving Israeli flags as they march through the streets of West Jerusalem. Some protesters were seen wearing costumes and masks as they held placards reading ‘Palestinian lives matter’, ‘Stop BB’s wars!’, ‘Ethnic cleansing=war crime’ and ‘Ceasefire means stop killing’, among others. "I think we've had enough wars. We had enough fighting and violence, and we need some hope. And this government cannot give us this hope. Therefore, we want to replace it as soon as possible by any democratic, nonviolent means that we have," said protester Doron. Commenting on the ongoing conflict with Iran, Doron expressed concern, stating that the decision rests solely with President Trump, not any Israeli authority. "We want him to go back to court. We want elections to happen honestly and fairly. We suspect he won't allow that to happen,” added protester Hellen "He thinks that people will rally around him because we're at war. That's not true. We're not rallying around him. 70 per cent of the Israelis want him gone,” she stated. Protester Lee accused the government of years of miscommunication, foreign policy failures, and military shortcomings, while ignoring domestic issues. "I thought and still think it was like a completely unjust war. This is not the way you're supposed to act. I think this government keeps on involving us Israelis in continuous wars in the region,” Lee added. The protest follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statement on Friday claiming Israel still has 'plans' to address remaining threats from Hezbollah, despite a fragile 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun reaffirmed that ongoing negotiations with Israel are focused on 'ending the aggression' against his country and establishing enduring agreements to protect the nation’s rights and sovereignty. US President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which came into force on Friday. The announcement of the ceasefire came after direct talks between Lebanese and Israeli officials in Washington, marking the first such exchange in decades."
