ILOILO CITY — A female leatherback sea turtle was dead along the shore of Barangay Sta. Rosa in Guimbal, Iloilo, on Saturday, April 18, according to authorities and marine experts. The incident was reported around 11:30 a.m. This prompted personnel from the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center FishWorld to respond immediately and assess the situation. Upon arrival, the team verified that the turtle was already lifeless. Initial measurements indicated the marine animal weighed about 150 kilos, with a curved carapace length of 118 centimeters and a width of 86 centimeters, suggesting it was an adult specimen.
