Inflation for poorest Central Visayas families soars 8.3% in March

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Rising costs of food, utilities, and transport continued to strain low-income families in Central Visayas as inflation for the bottom 30 percent of income households in the region rocketed to 8.3 percent in March 2026. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Region VII, the latest figure represents a sharp increase from 6.9 percent in February 2026. In March last year, inflation stood at just 2.4 percent.
