Asylum Applications Significantly Decreased in the First Quarter

In the first quarter of 2026, approximately 2,600 asylum applications were filed in Austria, representing a decrease of 45 percent compared to two years ago, when almost 7,000 applications were submitted. About 3,500 people received protection status during this period.
