'IDF to operate with full force' - DefMin says Israel will continue to 'thwart threats' in Lebanon despite ceasefire

"Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said during an event in the Israeli settlement of Sa Nur on Sunday that the IDF will continue to 'operate with full force' in Lebanon despite the ongoing ceasefire. "The IDF is deployed in the security zone in Lebanon up to the anti-tank line, at a depth of up to ten kilometers from the coastline in the west to the approaches of Mount Hermon in the east," Katz said. "From this line, which our heroic soldiers conquered, the IDF defends the Israeli communities against any direct threat of a raid, and from anti-tank fire. It continues to operate to thwart threats and terror infrastructure in the area," he continued. The Defence Minister said that the army will continue striking threats and Hezbollah 'terror infrastructure' even during the ceasefire, noting that structures and routes suspected of containing explosives will be 'destroyed immediately.' "This is the goal of Operation Magic Plow in Lebanon; to leave the houses in the adjacent contact villages near the border, which served as de facto Hezbollah terror outposts and threatened the Israeli communities. These houses will not remain there," Katz added. Katz delivered the remarks during the 'Coming Home' event in Sa Nur - an Israeli settlement in the northern West Bank that was evacuated in 2005 and re-established this year. US President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday a ten-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which came into force on Friday. The announcement was preceded by direct talks between Lebanese and Israeli officials in Washington DC, marking the first such negotiations in decades."
