Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and ongoing peace efforts, the Prime Minister’s Office said. During the 45-minute call, the prime minister thanked the Iranian leadership for sending a high-level delegation to Islamabad earlier this month for talks, describing the engagement as constructive. He also briefed President Pezeshkian on his recent interactions with leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkiye, saying the consultations had helped build consensus in favour of dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace in the conflict-hit region. The prime minister appreciated Iran’s engagement with Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir during his recent visit to Tehran and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing regional peace and security with the support of international partners. President Pezeshkian, in turn, appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace and expressed confidence that bilateral ties between the two countries would continue to strengthen.
