LAHORE: The city of Lahore witnessed a powerful show of unity, as over 1500 participants gathered for the inaugural Run for Inclusion (R4I) - the city’s first-ever night run dedicated to advancing awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). More than just a sporting event, Run for Inclusion brought together families, corporate teams, fitness communities, and advocates in a shared commitment to build a more accessible and inclusive society. The participants took part in 1-km, 5-km and 10-km categories, with the 1-km unified walk emerging as a defining moment, symbolizing collective participation in celebration of neurodivergent and neurotypical communities. “This platform is about shifting mindsets at scale,” said Rubab Gardezi, Host of Run for Inclusion. “We’re moving beyond passive awareness into active integration; creating spaces where differences are not just accepted but genuinely embraced.” “At its core, inclusion is about dignity, access and opportunity,” said Maheen Gul Malik, Founder of Lahore Autism Initiative. “What we’re building here is not a one-off event but a sustained effort to ensure individuals on the autism spectrum are seen, supported, and meaningfully included in every aspect of society,” she added.
